Double Suede is a modern blending of the classic sounds of 50’s & 60’s Rock and Country.
This duo features a hard to describe sound because you can’t believe it’s only two musicians performing. Casey Shalala on upright bass. With his unique slap and pop style he manages to be equal parts bassist and drummer. Recently seen on the hit tv show “Virgin River” Casey is a captivating presence that everyone remembers when the show is over. Matt Beatty is both the guitarist and vocalist. His reverb “slab back echo” guitar style is equal parts vintage and room filling. Matt’s vocals can tackle any style from Hank & Elvis to Tom Jones and Brian Setzer. Matt recently did a spot on the Paramount TV show “Joe Picket” where he has original material featured.
Double Suede recently released their debut EP, “the deEP end” Featuring 6 original compositions its a sure fire classic! First singles “Black Widow” & “Dive Bar Debutante” are joined by “Missunderstood”, “Guiding Light”, “Back Where I Started (At The Bottom)” plus the barn burner instrumental track “Punch It”. These songs, and other soon to be recorded tracks find themselves at home with familiar classics like “Stray Cat Strut” or “Folsom Prison Blues”. “Black Widow” has a lyric video up on youtube with other videos soon to follow. Working as a duo Double Suede is a perfect fit for any demographic, genre or size of stage.
They have played in country music saloons, punk clubs and Folk/Roots festivals. Equally gaining new fans from teenagers, whom this is all new fresh music, to more discerning listener who finds it all familiar and exciting. Recently the band has also been augmenting its sound with a drummer. This rather normal idea is making the band even more versatile and electric.
